12 Oddly Helpful Benefits Of Having Anxiety In Your Twenties

To My Younger Self: Remember Your Own Worth

When people tell you that you are intimidating, see it as a strength. Remember high school is a rough time for many people- you’re figuring out who you are, dealing with emotions, and balancing the stress and competitive pressure that comes with getting good grades in the hopes of getting accepted into college. Though grades are important to some extent, they aren’t everything. Don’t stress yourself out because it’s really not the end of the world.

Remember your worth. The right man will come into your life at the right time. So don’t worry if everyone around you is in a relationship and you aren’t. Embrace the time you have to discover yourself. Learn to love yourself first before you love someone else.

Your anxiety doesn’t control you. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. Take a moment to stop and smell the roses. Don’t be so focused on achieving and striving towards unattainable perfection that you forget to live. Time goes by in the blink of an eye.

Do not spend your whole high school career focused on grades and applying to colleges just because everyone else is doing it. Do what is best for you. You are in charge of your life and it is your duty to follow your heart.

The grass isn’t always greener. And remember, a degree doesn’t make a person, the person is what makes the degree. You are more than a name or a title. You could spend a large part of your life focusing on money, prestige, and titles, but you could spend the rest of your life regretting all the things you missed out on. Chase your passions, live your life to the fullest (I know it sounds cliche, but it is so true!), and strive to be the best version of yourself. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
