The most exciting record of the decade has finally been announced. After several months of mysterious helmet posters popping up in cities all over the world, not to mention all the teasing and rumors, French disco-funk duo Daft Punk ARE BACK with their fourth LP, Random Access Memories. This is their first album in eight years — may the people rejoice! According to Billboard, there’s no “confirmed” release date but the record is “expected” to drop on May 21, and it is already available for pre-order on iTunes and on the band’s site Random Access Memories.

The only thing we know about the hotly anticipated follow-up to 2005’s Human After All, which will be the famously elusive band’s first record in eight years, is that there are reportedly some interesting collaborations, including Giorgio Moroder, Gonzales, and Animal Collective’s Panda Bear. Random Access Memories has 13 tracks, currently listed in iTunes as Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc. These could be the actual titles, which obviously get us thinking about that annoying thing where iTunes messes up and your tracks get listed as “Track 1” or “Track 30” and you don’t know WHAT you’re listening to anymore. Or they could just be top secret place holders. We’ll have to wait and see, I guess.
Also? If you listen to the teaser clip above you’ll notice that there’s some song on there with the words “Mexican Donkeys” or “Mexican Funky” or “makes you get funky”? Whatever they’re saying, it’s fabulous. Can you tell what it is?
