You guys. YOU GUYS. We’ve been eagerly awaiting “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” for months and months and basically forever, but today lovely beacon of light J.K. Rowling revealed much more about the American houses at the magical school of Ilvermorny. Here are the new houses and what we know:

• Horned Serpent – a ‘great horned river serpent with a jewel set into its forehead’
• Pukwudgie – ‘a short, grey-faced, large-eared creature’
• Thunderbird – a creature that ‘can create storms as it flies’
• Wampus – ‘a magical, panther-like creature that is fast, strong and almost impossible to kill’

Each of the houses are named for the four founders and their favorite magical creature, much like the four founders of Hogwarts and their corresponding mascots.

Horned Serpent represents the mind and favors scholars.

Pukwudgie represents the heart and favors healers.

Thunderbird represents the soul and favors adventurers.

Wampus represents the body and favors warriors.

It makes sense that the American houses of Ilvermorny, as founded by completely different wizards, would represent different traits and values. It’s interesting that the four cores of each house are the heart, mind, body and soul.

But the most important thing: YOU CAN GET SORTED ON POTTERMORE NOW.

While we obviously know far more about the Hogwarts houses VS the Ilvermorny houses, I’m sure we’ll learn more and more as the film is released and J.K. Rowling feeds us like the ravenous baby birds we are.

I’ve already been sorted. Interestingly enough, I’m Slytherin through and through and also was sorted into Horned Serpent. I’m always a cool snake. This time I’m a cool snake with a jewel on its head. EVEN COOLER.
