Please Tell Me My House Isn’t Haunted: 29 People Share Their Absolutely Chilling True Stories

24. A ghost named Harold.

“In the house I grew up in, we had a ghost named Harold, a former owner who passed away in the house in the 1930’s. He really liked me, and would appear in my doorway, knock on my wall, say my name, and turn lights on and off. My mom and I figured out who he was by going to the Wisconsin Historical Society and looking up our address – it even included a picture that looked exactly like the man I had seen, and my sister-in-law had seen when visiting once. Unfortunately, my little brother moved into the room Harold liked to be in when he started high school (it was on the third floor of our house, farther away from my parents’ room than he was before). My brother would wake up and feel like a huge weight was pressing on his chest, and even woke up one night to his entire bed slamming up and down off of the floor. We eventually had a Tibetan monk from our community come over and say prayers to help him move on. We didn’t want to exorcise him, just felt badly that he was stuck in our house. I have tons of other Harold stories for anyone who is interested.”
