When You’ve Loved And Lost

Freestock

You will love again. I know right now it feels like you never will but trust me you will. And when you do you’ll look back at all those broken bridges and understand why they had to break. Everything will make sense one day even though in this moment it doesn’t.

I know it hurts right now and it feels like there are days where you can’t breathe. I know it feels like you’re drowning in a raging sea that is threatening to swallow you whole. I know you feel like a lifeless corpse trying to grasp reality and never quite being able to. But I also know that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes.

Don’t rush your healing, don’t pretend to be okay when you’re not and don’t apologize for being broken.

You put yourself out there in a way that some people will never understand and that’s called bravery. You took a chance, a risk, and a journey that might have left you with a mark but a mark that’s proof that you, my dear are a warrior.

You are a warrior even when you don’t feel like it. You are a force to be reckoned with even when you feel weak. How can I be so sure? Because you survived a blow that some have never recovered from and you’re still here fighting your way up. You might be hurt, you might be broken, you might be in the process of rebuilding, but that’s just proof of how strong you really are.

You took a chance that some are too cowardly to even take. You loved and yes you lost but at the same time, you won.

You gained an experience, knowledge, and strength that will forever be a part of you for the better. Although you feel like crumbled ruins you will rise from the ashes better than when you fell.

This experience will teach you things you didn’t even know about yourself like: what you truly stand for, what you’re worth and what it is you deserve. This heartbreak will mold you into a beautiful butterfly flying high above the trials of this world if you let it. You will be like a tree planted by the streams of water flourishing regardless of all the voices that said you never would.

As time passes you will begin to see those dark clouds above you dissipate and you’ll bask in the warmth of the sun. You’ll be able to enjoy the good times so much more after fighting through the dark ones and soon this pain will be but a memory.

Right now you are grieving, right now you are hurting, right now you’re trying to piece it all together, and that’s where you need to be, but just know it’s not where you’ll always be.

The good times will come but they’ll come at their own pace. Be patient with your heart and give it time to sort through all the events that transpired before handing it over to someone else. Love is magical but it can be a nightmare if entered into prematurely. Give yourself space, let your soul breathe, and take it all one day at a time.
Be kind sweet girl. Be kind to yourself and find hobbies and adventures that will build you up instead of tearing you down. You are a beautiful soul in need of tender love and care which is why you have to guard yourself against destructive habits. This is your time now to figure out the new you so take advantage of it.

Go out, be free, discover new things and visit new places. Do something crazy like taking off on a sporadic road trip or scuba diving for the first time. Take yourself out to a movie and then relax in a much-deserved bubble bath because this is your time. Find what scares you and then face that fear by doing an activity that challenges you. Do what sets your soul on fire and don’t apologize because you deserve adventures, smiles, and good times.

So get out there and find what makes your heart sing because with every breakdown comes a breakthrough that pushes us up to new heights. Your story is not over sweet girl, not even close, your story is barely getting started. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
