I Dont Know Who Needs To Hear This, But I’m Proud of You

I’m proud of the new mother who got out of bed this morning, even though she got little sleep last night. I’m proud of her for brushing her teeth with her eyes half-closed and changing that tiny diaper while her hair remains unwashed.

I’m proud of the hardworking father who got out of bed this morning to make it on time to the job he’s at 60 hours a week to provide for his family. I’m proud of him for his exhaustive efforts to stay on top of the mortgage and life’s other expenses, all the while being a role model his child can look up to.

I’m proud of the strong grandma who got out of bed this morning, even though she woke up alone because her husband is with the Lord. I’m proud of her for continuing her legacy as an example to her grandchildren that life continues, even when your bones are aging.

I’m proud of the positive auntie who got out of bed this morning, even though she’s waking up to an empty house. I’m proud of her for smiling as she drinks her morning coffee, knowing the doctors told her she will never be able to have children, yet all she wants is a family of her own.

I’m proud of the young woman who got out of bed this morning, even though heartbreak was knocking at her door. I’m proud of her for wiping her tears away, knowing well they may return later that night.

No matter who you are, where you are, or what your story is, you got out of bed this morning.

Even though some days all you want to do is stay hidden away under the covers with your thoughts your only company. Even when your shoulders are heavy from the weight this world has placed upon you.

You got out of bed this morning.

You chose life.

And for that, I am proud of you.
