Failure Is Not The End Of The World

To the one needing this affirmation right now:

Remember that failure is not the end of the world.

I know, I know, it’s easier to say than to believe.

You may feel trapped into a corner, thinking of the upcoming and growing responsibilities that you have to tackle. You may be feeling agitated at a job of yours that you can’t seem to get the hang of. You may have just found out you flunked a paper or two. You may feel that you have been consistently disappointing the people in your life. You may feel that you have lost all drive to get through whatever you are going through right now. You may feel that you are not where you should be at this stage of your life. You may feel that you have reached your wit’s end.

Yes, experiencing failure may feel like a dead end. Yes, we don’t normally factor in the possibility of failure. Yes, you may feel that you are letting others or yourself down.

But I want to tell you that failure is not the end of the world, nor is it the end of your world. The moon will still rise, the sun will shine, the crickets will chirp, and the birds will sing. Let us appreciate that we are still able to wake up to a new day. A new day signifies another chance to turn things around for the better.

Remember that most of the failures that we face are not permanent. Don’t take up a permanent solution for a temporary problem. Know that you will be able to make peace with yourself one day. You will be able to slowly and surely patch up that relationship with your family or close friends. You will be able to wake up one day without that ache in your chest from your heartbreak. You will be able to write that resit paper. You will be able to graduate. You will be able to find people in your life who will genuinely love you for you.

Failure may feel like a dead end, but it’s really just a sharp-edged rock on the road. Failure may poke at the tires of our vehicle in our journey, but they can be repaired. You are able to remedy obstacles in the road by patching up that puncture and continuing on your journey. Even if you are unable to patch it up all on your own, you are able to call in a mechanic to assist you by telling the people in your life that you need help. Whether it’s help in terms of moral support or assisting you with your work, you have ‘mechanics’ in your life that are ready and willing to help you.

To the one needing this affirmation right now:

Take heart, for failure is not the end of the world. I know that it feels scary and you may be hurting for a while, but know that it will be okay. Know that you will be okay.
