Love Shouldn’t Tie Us Down

Ander Burdain

and there are days when I

feel like this isn’t right —

like a kid who refuses to free

a beautiful butterfly

afraid that she won’t

be able to find another

just as beautiful

but

its days are early —

its wings haven’t

flown enough

and its beauty

felt a little too much

for her little hands

and the question

on her mind kept lingering;

should she let go?

and the same question

is tattooed on my mind;

should I?

because I feel like I’m tying you down

when we barely even know

how to knot. TC mark
