This Is The Truth About Love

By

The truth is: Every person on planet earth wants to feel loved.

Every single human being on planet earth just wants to know that they are wanted. And they will go to crazy lengths to make sure of it; kick their friends out when their drunken booty call shows up, aggressively tell someone who you’ve only hung out with two times (and didn’t even sleep with) that you like them. You make plans around this person, check every nook and cranny at the bar for this person, or desperately hope that this person will somehow magically appear at your house when you’re lonely and watching Friends because your roommate just left for Germany for the whole summer leaving you completely alone. For the whole summer. Alone. And hot. For three months. Alone.

The truth is, despite what anyone says: “I don’t want a boyfriend right now,” or the ever popular, “I’m emotionally unavailable right now,” even those girls who pretend to love being single, want to have someone that wants them, too.

As of now, I’ve picked this phrase, “I don’t want a boyfriend for a really, really long time.” And it’s true. I really don’t. But I agree with Sam Smith when he says, “This ain’t love it’s clear to see, but darling won’t you stay with me?”

At this age, I just want someone to have sex with whenever we want, and then crack the fuck out of each other afterwards. And then he’ll make me chicken nuggets in the morning and he’ll even kiss me goodbye. But we both know we can’t fall forever because neither of us wants that. But we both want someone. Just anyone to let us know , “Hey you’re good looking enough for me to enjoy for this period of my life, lets do this.” Just so we can share a little piece of something, anything, with another human. It makes life easier to know you have that person… even if it’s just that person to be like, “Hey! Remember that time I couldn’t remember what the temple is called?” And they will.

None of this is realistic. You can’t possibly have friends with benefits or no strings attached because one of you is eventually going to fall. But all I’m saying is, it’s nice to have someone. Before all the messy stuff, before he forgets your birthday and you wreck his car. Before you end up in your room blasting Stay by Rihanna and sobbing. Just because having that feeling of having someone is all anyone wants in this world, and it’s worth going to crazy lengths to get.
