11 Things People Don’t Realize You’re Doing Because You’re A Perfectionist

By

1. You physically and mentally cannot handle mistakes.

Whenever you make a mistake in your personal life, or work life, you don’t know how to handle it. You’re incredibly emotional in the first place, but when you make a mistake you don’t go about it rationally. You are incredibly hard on yourself, to an alarming extent.

2. Your mental health is risked when you do make an error.

When you do in fact mess up, you freak out. You don’t know how to stop apologizing to anyone but yourself. You usually have to use vices, like alcohol or pills to calm yourself down. You would rather die, than ever make a mistake.

3. You don’t understand why other people aren’t like you.

You don’t get why other people are so calm and chill all the time. And you honestly don’t understand why anyone would want to go about life so casually. Your brain is wired to be this way, and you can’t wrap your head around why you were born to think like this.

4. You can always do more, and you can always do better.

You’re best is not good enough. Ever. Even if you get the promotion, the raise, the money, the power, and the relationship of your dreams, you are always striving to do better and to be better. You’re ‘top’ is non existent.

5. You never feel fulfilled even when you get what you want.

You are never fulfilled in your life. You always need to do more, more, more. You can’t relax even when you get to the top tier of your success, because in your head, it’s not good enough for you. And it’s not good enough for other people.

6. You damage your health to make things as perfect as possible.

You stay up late and will pull all nighters for the sake of getting everything done. You rip your hair out, bite your nails, and consume too much coffee, just to make sure every assignment, text, and paper is perfection. You don’t care if it ruins your body, or ruins your mind. You just want everything to be inhumanely perfect.

7. You don’t know how to cope with your flaws and imperfections.

If you see cellulite on your body, or a spelling error on a work assignment, you don’t know how to deal with it. So, you do everything and anything in your power to fix it. You want to be good enough for yourself, and for everyone else. You just take it too many steps too far.

8. You get jealous easily.

Your mind is plagued with jealousy and competitive streak everywhere you go. You look at other people’s bodies, other people’s success stories, and other peoples live’s and can’t help but curse your own life. Sometimes, you would rather be anyone else, but yourself.

9. You are never, ever late.

You are never late. No matter how late you stayed up the night before, and no matter how sick you are with the flu. Late to you, means failure. Late to you, means lazy. Late to you, means not good enough.

10. You honestly don’t know how to relax.

You don’t know how to relax your body, never mind relax your mind. Your mind is always racing and you treat your body like a garbage disposal to get to where you need to be. Your life is a never ending rat race. It’s a never ending marathon.

11. You are constantly going over what you did wrong and right each day.

Even if you have the most beautiful and perfect day, you can’t help but pinpoint that tiny thing that happened that made it go awry. No matter how happy you are, or how much you have gotten done, you still stress over every little detail in your life that isn’t perfect or good enough for you.
