You’re Allowed To Believe In Yourself

By

You’re allowed to believe in yourself. I mean it.

You’re allowed to believe in yourself — despite the past that haunts you with ghosts you wish you could forget. Despite the people who tell you that you won’t amount to anything. Despite the individuals who spit words at you, begging you to trip over yourself. And despite all the whispers in your head that tell you that maybe all of those people are right.

You’re allowed to turn your back on those groups of people who taunted you for so long. You’re allowed to tell them face to face, that you are actually worth something. And you’re allowed to walk away from all of that ugliness, because you know deep down that you are something that is beautiful.

You’re allowed to say yes to your dreams that you have neglected for many, many years. You’re allowed to actually look at yourself closely and whisper without any trace of hesitation, “today I am going to do it. I’m going to finally do it”.

You’re allowed to allow yourself to heal, no matter how long it takes. You’re allowed to feel everything that you have pushed deep inside of your heart. You’re allowed to let those demons come out from inside of your chest. And you’re allowed to set them free.

You’re allowed to let all of that hurt leave your soul.

You’re allowed to take baby steps towards what you want and need. And you’re allowed to be patient with yourself and with your progress. Nothing beautiful is going to happen in the blink of an eye. It’s going to take time. It may take many years. But no matter what, don’t ever ever stop.

And beautiful soul, you’re allowed to let yourself shine.

And even when the bitter cold is blowing winter’s harshest wind at you, you’re allowed to keep going. And even when people are yelling their most vile and bitter opinions at you, you’re allowed to keep walking. And even when the past keeps coming up and you feel like you can’t get any oxygen in your lungs, you’re allowed to keep breathing.

You’re allowed to shut down all those negative thoughts. You’re allowed to actually try. To actually take steps forward, no matter how small they may be. You’re allowed to smile your brightest smile. And you’re allowed to never ever apologize for how brightly you shine. And you’re allowed to believe that you, are worth a great and magical future.

You’re allowed to believe that you are great. Because, you are more than just the lost girl, or the heartbroken boy. You are more than what people give you credit for. You are more than just a category.

You are a masterpiece, darling. Don’t ever let yourself believe anything else. And don’t ever stop believing in the beauty that is you.
