This Is The Kind Of Love We All Deserve

We deserve the kind of love that is soft. The kind of love that speaks volumes, without saying anything at all. We deserve the kind of love that is gentle, yet overwhelmingly powerful. And we deserve love that doesn’t make us question our self worth.

We deserve the kind of love that engulfs and showers us in hugs that make our grins grow wider. We deserve the kind of love that speckles us with fluttery kisses when our body aches from hard, dark days.

We all deserve the kind of love that does not leave.

The kind that could make any pessimist believe in pixie dust and happily ever afters, even after they have been broken before so many times. We deserve the kind of love that makes us feel like we are twelve years old on the night before Christmas, every damn day.

We deserve the love that lets us be ourselves. The kind of love that makes us believe in our strengths, and the kind that gives us a pat on the shoulder and a smile when we make a mistake. We deserve the kind of love that is kind in everything that it does.

We deserve love that is without a doubt the easiest thing that we have ever felt. We deserve a love that is full of laughter in living rooms, and giggles in the bedroom. We deserve love that is a crackling fireplace and fuzzy socks in December. We deserve love that feels like home. That feels like a safe haven.

We all deserve that kind of love. The kind that we always heard about, but have never known it to be true. The kind of love that takes our breaths away when we realize that we finally found it. We deserve the kind of love that is better than any material object or expensive luxury item. We deserve the kind of love that is measured in smiles, and warm hugs that take away the cold within our bones.

The kind of love that we deserve is warm. The kind that covers us like a blanket, protecting us from the outside darkness. And we deserve the kind of love that feels like a cabin in the woods, the kind that shelters our heart and makes sure it feels held and wanted. We all deserve it. We all deserve that kind of magic that can’t quite be explained.

We will get it someday. We just have to, right? TC mark

You look back and you just feel stupid.
You can’t forgive yourself for falling
or believing all the lies.
You reread every text.
You relive every memory.
And it all starts making sense —
he never wanted love.
He only wanted attention.
He only wanted validation.

“It’s just wondrous how every time I go through some emotional trauma, your posts are so relatable and it gives me so much hope. I love the writing and the photos. It’s all a pleasure to read. I can’t thank you enough for it, really.” — DM from @ThoughtCatalog Instagram follower

Cut yourself some slack. One of the biggest regrets most people have about their 20s is that they didn’t enjoy them more. And I’m not talking about “buy more expensive dinners, take another trip to Thailand” type of enjoyment. I mean having the ability to take a deep breath and sip coffee in the morning knowing that you have done, and are doing, your best.

“These essays are slowly changing my life, as the title promises. As my friends’ birthday come along, they will all be receiving a copy of this wonderful book.” – Janie
