If You Have A Closed Up Heart, I Will Help You Slowly Open It

By

I’m not going to pressure you, and make you rip off your bandaid. I’m not going to encourage you to open your heart up as quickly as possible. I will let you take your time. I will let you go in your own pace.

If you have a closed up heart, I won’t want to clasp it open. I will make sure you feel safe and comfortable.

I will make sure to tell you that I’m not going to run away. And that I’m not going anywhere.

If you have a closed up heart, I’m not going to force you to tell me something you don’t want to. I’m not going to make you open up your mouth just so I can get a piece of you. I don’t need you to tell me everything. I don’t need to hear your whole story yet.

I will want you to know that I’m not the kind of girl who gives up easily. In fact, I won’t ever give up on you or your heart.

I know you are careful with words, and you are guarded. You’ve been wounded in the past and you don’t want it to happen again. You’ve been broken before. And you don’t know if you can handle it again.

But please, trust me when I say, I’m not going to break you.

I’m not going to hurt you. I am going to slowly ease into your life, and tiptoe on your mind. I’m going to whisper sweet words into your ears and promise you things that I will actually keep.

If you have a closed up heart, I will show you that it’s ok to slowly open it. It’s ok to show me bits and pieces of yourself, as long as you are comfortable. I will show you that in time, you won’t have to hide your face from me anymore. You won’t have to hide your heart either.

I will show you that I will hold your heart close. I will nourish your wounds, and kiss the thousands of broken pieces that stab at it.

I will hug it away. I will wash it away with my words. I will not let your heart get shattered again. I will watch it grow, and in turn, I will watch it start to beat with life.

And I will slowly open up your heart, so that it isn’t afraid anymore.

I will slowly open up your heart, so it isn’t ashamed anymore.

I will slowly open up your heart, so it doesn’t have to hurt anymore.
