15 Simple Reminders You Are Doing Better Than You Think

By

1. You got out of bed today.

Getting out of bed each day may seem like a simple task to some, but on some days it’s really really hard. So if you’ve gotten out of bed, congratulations. You’ve already completed this milestone.

2. You spend time doing things you enjoy.

Even if you aren’t happy with your job right now, you make time to spend some hours of the day truly enjoying yourself. Whether it be writing, painting or blasting out Michelle Branch songs, this is a sign that you care about yourself. This is a sure sign that you are doing better than you even knew.

3. You listen to your gut now.

Before, you might’ve not listened to your heart. And you might have used to ignore it completely. Now, you listen to your body. You listen to what your gut instincts are saying. That’s an accomplishment.

4. You don’t regret your past.

You don’t look back on your past and beat yourself up about it. You don’t spend hours of each day trying to figure out why he left you or why you said that to your best friend. You except it for what it is. And you move on.

5. You can make a mistake now and forgive yourself.

A year ago, you would’ve been way too hard on yourself. But now, if you mistake whether it be at work in your personal life, you have the maturity to let it go. You can’t erase what you have already done. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has bad days.

6. You have hobbies.

You don’t sit in your bed day in and day out, wasting your life away. You go out and enjoy the sunshine with your friends on a Saturday morning. Or maybe you like spending time alone playing piano and writing songs. You are finally doing something that you love, and that benefits you too.

7. You’ve been through heartbreak.

You’ve been beaten down before. You’ve been broken. But you survived that. You’re already better now than you were then. You’re just stronger now.

8. You know what you don’t want in your life.

Whatever has happened in your life thus far, it’s so important to know what you don’t want in your life. You know that you won’t settle for those things or those somebodies anymore. That’s powerful to know that.

9. You know what you deserve now.

You know your self worth. You know that you don’t deserve how you have been treated before in the past. You’re better than that. And now you finally have the guts to acknowledge that.

10. You appreciate the little things.

You acknowledge now how beautiful this world can be. Whether it be appreciating that great strong cup of coffee you have every morning, or a great song that always comes on the radio at the right time, appreciating the small things is an amazing experience.

11. You have a good relationship with your parents.

As long as you have your mom or dad who will listen to you and be there for you when you need it, you’re doing better than most.

12. You are in tune with your emotions.

Whether you’re sad one day, depressed the next day, and ecstatic a week later, you know what you have to do when you feel these emotions. You are aware that sometimes you can be more sensitive at times, and take extra care in how you treat yourself during those moments.

13. You ask for help when you need it.

You’re ok with not being ok. You aren’t ashamed anymore about your anxieties and about your feelings. You talk to someone when you are feeling really down, and know what you need to do to get back up on your feet again.

14. You have goals.

No matter how big or how small, having goals is a huge accomplishment in itself. You know what you want your future to look like and you’ll do anything for that to come true. You know you deserve to have a really happy life. And you deserve your goals to come true.

15. You can think of one thing in this world that makes you happy.

It doesn’t matter what it is. But what does matter is that you have something in mind of this one thing or person that makes you happy. Never let that go.

You’re doing so much better than you think you are. I know, it’s easy to feel like you’re only the one who feels the way you do, but trust me, we are all in the same boat. We are all in this together.
