I Am Not Yours, But You Are Forever Mine

I think you knew all along.
I was lying
because when I told you that I
will love you
forever, I meant it.
And when I told you that I wanted
to marry you,
you knew it was true.
You knew all along.

I act cool.
Like the wind in the springtime,
I keep my cool.
I feel myself write back
I am happy for you.

A bouquet of tulips
my hand wrapped in my father’s arm
I’m wearing white.
But now my face burns
because I’m not the one gliding
towards you
It’s her.

I’m watching her place
the ring of forever on your long
finger.
I watch myself try to breath.
I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.
I try to scream out
I can’t breathe
without you.
My love,
I am not your love now.
But you’re forever mine.
Like I always promised. TC mark

You look back and you just feel stupid.
You can’t forgive yourself for falling
or believing all the lies.
You reread every text.
You relive every memory.
And it all starts making sense —
he never wanted love.
He only wanted attention.
He only wanted validation.

“It’s just wondrous how every time I go through some emotional trauma, your posts are so relatable and it gives me so much hope. I love the writing and the photos. It’s all a pleasure to read. I can’t thank you enough for it, really.” — DM from @ThoughtCatalog Instagram follower
