You Don’t Have To Agree With Me, But You’re Wrong And I Hate You

By

Seriously, people on the internet are the worst. Life Lesson: People on the internet will always hate you.

Everyone has their own opinions and that is totally acceptable and encouraged but on the internet, these opinions tend to be nothing but cruel and harsh. While at times I’m sure they are deserved, when does it cross the line? People hide behind the screens of their computers and rip apart total strangers simply because they said something that you disagreed with. Nothing you say or do will ever be right in the world of the internet.

In my personal experience, those who tend to get the most upset and outraged by things they read on the internet are those who are being targeted in some way. Example: I wrote the article about all girls being crazy (and yes, I do include myself in that, contrary to many ‘guest’ opinions) and yet almost all the responses were made by people who probably read that and are in a state of denial that that is actually what they are like. People take things so seriously on the internet and feel as though it is personally attacking them and then turn around and personally attack the author. But, as my favourite saying goes, ‘If the shoe fits, lace up, bitch’.

I like to think I have a tough skin, I like to think that with all the bullshit I have dealt with in life, what a couple anonymous people say on the internet wont hurt me but seeing what total strangers will write about you is a horrible, horrible feeling. I seriously don’t know how celebrities do it. I also will never understand people’s need to get off on putting someone else down. *Cue the comments on me putting down those who put down others on the internet and how I am a horrible person.*
People very rarely have anything nice to say about you on the internet, they only seem to have criticism. In fact, I pity those of you who feel the need or desire to (or just find pure joy in) tear apart strangers for what they write or do on the internet. You clearly live a very sad life if you have the time to care this much about something so trivial most of the stuff on here… but I guess I live a sad life for caring and reading what people say. However, I would like to urge you take those extremely strong opinions and put them to good use else where. Like maybe things that matter like political events, wars, poverty.. you know that stuff that actually does impact the world we live in?

It’s sad to know that it will never end. People will always feel that they are entitled to say harsh, rude and cruel things about total strangers on the internet and in reality, this is true. You do have the right to say these things but really, does this make you any better than the person who angered you originally? Does turning around and attacking someone personally who did not personally target you make you a better person? Do you feel better about yourself? If that’s the case, then please go ahead. Do what you need to do and I hope that people like myself, who write things that piss you off so deeply, can help to provide you with some weird outlet for your aggression and hatred that you so obviously feel.

Just remember, karma’s a bitch.
