This Is The Song That Saved My Life

By

Why do people often say they are okay when they are actually far from being okay? Why do they pretend to smile and laugh like everything is going the way they want it to be?

Why don’t they just act according to what they really feel?

Well, here’s the thing. They really don’t care about you or whatever it is that you would think about them. They are doing this not as a favor to you or someone else; they are doing this as a favor to themselves.

Because they know that they deserve better than what they are receiving from the people they care about. They wanted to be okay, so they will act it out until they actually feel like it.

Fake it ‘til you make it, you know?

Remember the song we all used to sing in kindergarten? Do you know the true meaning behind it? Are you aware that ever since we were children, they have been teaching us how to be okay?

The song is entitled “Row Your Boat.” This is how it saved my life.

Row, row, row your boat.

Yes, that’s what you have to do. Row it on your own; you are the captain of your life. Row it to the direction you want to go, follow the stars.

Follow your dreams. Believe me, I know because I did, I stopped listening to others criticisms of who I am and who I should be and I chose to make my own rules.

Gently down the stream.

Gently, do not force the current. Do not fight the waves; smoothly follow the tracks to your future and you will get there. Do not force yourself to be happy, do it gently, slowly and surely. Smile and say you’re okay until you become genuinely happy. I didn’t force it; I said okay after every fake okays until I felt like I am becoming better. I smile when I wake up and thank God I’m alive every night.

Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily.

Stop being angry at life for throwing rocks at you, it will only make you stronger. Do not row your life angrily, do it merrily because needless to say you will still get tired from all the rowing might as well do it happily. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Life is but a dream.

“This, too, shall pass.” Are you familiar with this famous quote? This sums it all up. Life is just a dream and before you know it, it’s over. We’re all going to die someday, why stress yourself out? Why not just make the best of it, right? Everything is going to be over; it’s just a matter of time. You got this.

You are going to be okay because this has been inside you for so long. This song is living inside you and you got this.

I believe in you.
