Stop Breaking Your Own Heart

averie woodard

You break your own heart when you put yourselves in situations that are bound to disappoint. When you know the reality, but hope for the best. When you try to change someone who doesn’t want to change.

You break your own heart when you hang out with people who don’t value you. People who make you feel even emptier after being around them. You break your own heart putting yourselves in the position to feel less then you are.

You break your own heart comparing yourself to everyone around you. By feeling jealous or that your life doesn’t measure up. It’s just not true. What’s meant for you, will be. Don’t feel left out when you don’t get invited out with people you thought were your friends. Be around people who actually make you happy. Life is so short. Don’t be around a bunch of lame people.

You break your own heart by placing your worth on other people. Because they’ll break your heart every time. Because in today’s society everyone is only out for themselves.

Be your own person and stop putting limits on yourself. When you know your worth, little things bother you less and less. The more confident you are in yourself, the less the opinions of others will matter to you.

Once upon a time I used to break my heart every day. But I got wiser, and realized that my heart wasn’t theirs to break. Stop breaking your own heart; you’re worth so much more. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
