It’s a tough disease. It’s ugly and scary and it can get in the way of trying to feel normal. But it has shown me what a special person you are.
She knows love at first sight isn’t real. Attraction at first sight is real. Desire at first sight is real. But not love. Love develops out of a series of small and ordinary moments that you don’t even realize are important.
It’s not weird that I fantasize about my office building burning down so that work gets canceled.

I’m not standing here, hoping
You’ll fall on your ass.
The pressure will never go away. It will try to stop you, and consume you, and keep you from going on. But all you have to remember is that one step forward on the right path is always going to get you farther than staying put.
Sometimes people will ask you how many times you’ve cried in the last year, as if you’re going to pull out a journal that lists the date and time of every breakdown you’ve had in the last 12 months.
Because weddings have been ingrained in our minds as the climax of our existence. The most important day of our lives. The greatest thing we will ever do… instead of what they really are.
Drinking less: Just… just… no.
Having a guard up is standard. We keep things hidden because we don’t want to drop the burden of not being perfect on someone close to us. We don’t want them to have to deal with the atrocity of loving us as we are.
Because saying that we’re “uninspired” is our way of avoiding what we know is best for us, and what we know we truly want. We want to live off of the idea that someday we’ll do this, someday we’ll achieve our dream. But not today. It’s too overwhelming to begin our lifelong dream today. It’s too scary. So we’ll blame it all on a lack of inspiration.
