The Thought Process Of The Person Who Can Never Fall Asleep

By

Let’s say that, for now, melatonin is a backup. It’ll work, and it’ll be worth it for a few hours of sleep, but getting up tomorrow will be impossible.

So let’s try something else. A book? Okay. Here we go. Where were we again? Oh yeah, I remember this sentence. Here we go. I am reading a book. I am not looking at my screens, which is good, that’s what they tell you is the smart thing to do. Where did I learn that again? Good for me, for reading this book. Wait, what was that last sentence again? Go back to it, I didn’t pick up anything that it said. Okay, here it is, here we go again. I’m reading a book. Is this going to help me fall asleep though? I’m still wide awake. I have now read one page and I don’t remember any of it.

Okay this is worthless.

Netflix? 30 Rock again, maybe? I don’t even remember which one I was on. Oh yeah, this one. Okay.

How is it 1:12 am already. Oh, shit, I didn’t even realize it’s been two-and-a-half episodes. Okay. Close your laptop.

Okay, I’m laying here. I should count, that’ll help. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Sev – what time is it now? 1:14. So I could still get a decent amount of hours if I fall asleep in the next ten minutes. Okay start over with the counting. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten. Elev – I need to email Tracy back. I’m three days delayed on that. And wasn’t I supposed to take a call with Steven yesterday? Shit shit shit. Okay so those will be the first two things tomorrow. Call Steven, email Tracy. Call Steven, email Tracy.

One, two, three, four, five – now I’m just rushing through the counting, that’s not the point.

Okay I might as well finish the other half of this episode. Maybe the screen will make my eyes tired.

1:52. Damnit. Shit. I blew it. Where’s the melatonin.

Alright that should help. Just one caplet should be okay, I’ll just need extra caffeine tomorrow. It’ll make me more tired before bed tomorrow, which is a good thing.

I’ll go to sleep early tomorrow night. I’ll go to sleep early tomorrow night. I’ll go to sleep early tomorrow night. One. Two. Three.
