5 Adventures To Go On With Your Significant Other This Summer

By

It’s no secret that summer is one of the best seasons for going on dates.

You’re no longer holed up with your significant other mid snowpocalypse making up two halves of a blanket burrito, forced to endlessly binge on Netflix series because you can’t get out of your house. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course—but it can get old after a while.)

Instead, you can do things like cook on the grill, picnic in the park, and drink around a bonfire—with no worries of being trapped inside by mother nature and developing a serious case of cabin fever.

If you’re looking for some fun new date ideas to try out this summer, check out these 5 adventures. You’ll make memories grow closer together, and, most of all, you’ll have a blast—no matter which one you try.

1. Take the road(s) less traveled

Pack a weekender, stock up on your favorite road trip snacks, and curate a playlist specifically for the occasion. Then, hop in your car/truck/SUV/whatever and hit the road. Rather than planning a destination, just drive for as long as you like and see where you end up! You can stop along the way at any roadside attractions or towns that pique your interest. You never know, you just might find your new favorite vacation destination.

2. Go camping

We’ve already given you 8 great reasons why you need to go camping with your significant other.

Here’s a different spin on it: Instead of packing up your tent, set up camp inside of your car or used truck and sleep there! For your sleeping arrangements, you can fill up an air mattress and throw some cozy sheets and blankets on top. Don’t forget to bring your favorite pillow from home, either. You’ll sleep better with the familiar feel and scent of it. And for some added ambiance and mood lighting, you can even string up some fairy lights.

Camping in a vehicle is a great way to discover more than you’d be able to with a little lonely tent. In need of some new scenery? No worries! Just pack up your vehicle and head off to a new destination.

3. Experience a new culture

Traveling is a great way to really get to know someone.

You’ll inevitably face situations that are stressful and you’re not prepared for. Seeing how your partner reacts to and handles these situations is a great way to learn more about them and, in turn, your compatibility within your relationship.

Plus, experiencing new cultures is exciting—whether you’re alone or sharing your experiences with a trusted travel partner. With your significant other, though, it’s a great way to grow closer, have fun, and learn new things about each other. You get to enjoy all of the new sights, sounds and tastes that only a new culture can provide while enjoying each other, too. What could be better than that?

4. Sneak into a pool.

“But that’s trespassing!” You say. Maybe it is, but it’s also just plain fun. And you’re not hurting anyone, so what does it really matter? You can sneak into a hotel pool, your neighbors’, or the town’s community pool, but any old pool will do. Just pick a relatively easy target, waltz in there like you own the place, and hop in! Thanks to the warm sun on your skin and adrenaline coursing through your veins, this is a date you’ll never forget.

5. Explore your town or city

Sure, the idea of a staycation may have you rolling your eyes. We know, it’s been suggested a million times before. But seriously, think about it—how often do you take time to explore the town or city you live in? Maybe you’ve lived in the same place for years and never checked out that consignment store down the street from your place. Now’s your chance! Who knows, you could end up scoring that convex eagle mirror you’ve been dreaming about for the past year. (If your SO doesn’t spot it first, that is.)
