I’m Slowly Learning To Trust The Timing Of My Life

11 Things I Hope Someday You Decide To Believe In

1. The power in actually trying.

Crazy ideas are one thing, but they need something actionable behind them. No one got anywhere by sitting still and hoping. If you want to see what’s going to happen, you need to make some moves. If you want to see what will happen, you have to give it a shot. So just try. Give yourself a chance to ultimately do something for a change. You might surprise yourself.

2. How self-awareness can and *will* change your entire life.

Self-awareness is the strongest, boldest, baddest tool you can arm yourself with. When you are self-aware no one can touch you. Having unapologetic and unabashed self-awareness in your back pocket makes you impenetrable to most hate, to most negativity, to most things. Being insanely self-aware is the best thing you can do for yourself. Frankly? It’s something you *owe* yourself.

3. The little voice in the back of your head that never wants to steer you wrong.

Your heart can be swayed and your head can be influenced. But your gut? That little voice that hangs out behind your head and says the things only YOU know to be true? It’s real. And you owe it to yourself to at least make sure to listen to it.

4. Chances. Especially the ones that make your heart race.

Believing in possibility is…challenging. Believing in chances is even tougher. But if it catches your breath and you can’t stop thinking about it and it makes you feel alive? It’s probably worth looking into. No one lived an interesting life by completely avoiding the things that scared them. Take chances. Believe that things can work out. Even if they don’t, at least you tried.

5. Your ideas. Even the ones that seem too crazy to manifest.

If your ideas just stay in your head swirling around and never really go anywhere, that’s exactly where they’ll stay. No one is going to believe in your ideas if you don’t believe in them first. So stand up for them. Fight for them. Carve a path for them. You need to be your own best and fiercest advocate. Fight for yourself. Fight for your ideas. And don’t apologize for it.

6. The people who seemed too good or too unrealistic to be true.

We don’t cross paths with many people who electrify us in life. Actual connection, actual sparks are hard to come by. So when you can’t stop thinking about someone, that’s no small thing. If you’re drawn to someone, if there’s a pull even if it’s only detectable to you, maybe give them a chance to surprise you. Maybe give them a chance to make you decide you believe in something.

7. The strength that comes from relying on nobody else.

If you arm yourself with independence and self-awareness you will be so, so, so untouchable. Make yourself unfuckwithable. Find a way to make sure you don’t need anyone for the little things, for the things you can completely manage yourself. In finding your own independence you will take your life and your well-being into your own hands. And what’s better than that?

8. The knowledge that comes from those tough times.

Believe in your life lessons. Believe in your ability to learn and morph and blossom and grow. When shit hits the fan, pause and reflect and give yourself some credit after the fact. You can learn, you can adapt, you can adjust, you can grow. And more than that? You *know* you can. You don’t need anyone to tell you that you’ve grown. You just need to look in a mirror.

9. Your own abilities that you know you have.

You’re a skilled, strong, talented, capable individual. You deserve to give yourself some credit. You know what you’re capable of, you know what you bring to the table. And there’s nothing wrong or cocky about recognizing that.

10. The journey that seems too insane to take.

And speaking of capable, you’re capable of more than you think. You can do the big, scary, crazy thing. It might be a rollercoaster for a minute but as long as you know yourself, you can manage it. So manage it. Manage yourself. Know what you can handle. And then just handle it.

11. And ultimately? Yourself.

The only way to be confident is to decide you are. No one believes in someone who doesn’t believe in themselves. Even if you deep down don’t, pretend. And then fake it ’till you make it. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
