It's Time To Let Him Go

It’s Time To Let Him Go

Have you ever loved someone so much that it seemed like you couldn’t live life without them?

Did you feel like they were your safe place that was completely untouchable?

Or just hearing their name brought the biggest smile to your face?

Have you also ever been with someone that no matter how much you loved them it never seemed like it was enough for them?

A person you constantly break up with just to make up months later?

and being with them was a rollercoaster that had more downs than ups and never seems to end?

Well, I have certainly been there. I was in a situation for years with someone I honestly thought I was going to marry one day. Until I had to come to the realization that it just wasn’t meant to be. Too much damage had been done to keep continuing the relationship and it was just time we both moved on.

Being with someone for a long time is comfortable. You know what the other person likes and dislikes. You know each other’s patterns and quirks. Why would you want to give that up and start over with someone else?

In my situation, I had to finally come to terms with the fact that I was putting in way more work than him and always came up short in the end. I was so exhausted in continuously getting my hopes up that when he did hurt me it didn’t even surprise me anymore.

Love shouldn’t be like that. I think a lot of us grew up with this idea that love is a struggle. That we should stick by them no matter what. But love isn’t supposed to hurt. It doesn’t take advantage of you. It shouldn’t feel like a 9-5 job with triple overtime and you never see a penny of your paycheck. Is it completely easy?? No, but it’s not unbearably hard either.

If you’re in a relationship where you feel like you’re not growing and your feelings are not being validated it’s time you let that person go. There is no point to give your all to someone who’s just giving 20%. Sometimes we’re just hanging on to memories rather than the reality of what it is. The longer you prolong this process is the deeper you’ll be in it making it difficult to get out of.

You deserve a love that is positive and is reciprocated. If it’s not then please let that situation go. You are allowed to walk away from relationships that no longer serve you. It’s going to hurt, but it’ll be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make.
