Being sick shows you the tangent uncertainty of life. It teaches you what to depend on and what is fleeting. It also teaches you about hope. Something I learned in the beginning is that life is worth living, despite all of its unknown phases.
Though self-reflection is natural after ending any relationship, this one helped me realize that I am a modern girl who is proud of her intellect, who will always ask questions, and who can drink a bourbon without the approval of a man.
When you’re young you think love is easy, that your expression of this complex and overwhelming feeling will be found often and shared frequently. What you learn when you’re older is that love is rarely black and white. People can love you in the “I’m not in love with you” kind-of-way, they can be on the verge of loving you, or the worst: they can express to you that they only think they love you.
With a few accidental swipes to the right and many, many more swipes to the left, I saw a plethora of semi-eligible men; but mostly what I noticed was humor, and not in the ‘haha’ funny kind-of-way.
