6 Things To Do For Yourself When It Feels Like The World Is Pushing You Down

By

Sometimes it feels like the whole world is against you. Here are some things you can do to help you get through those kinds of days.

1. Go for a walk.

It’s easy to get down when you’re sitting around and thinking about the things that are going wrong. Sometimes the best way to deal with a hard day is to get outside and get moving. By moving your body, you can help relieve stress and tension. By getting outside, you can breathe fresh air and enjoy the beauty of nature. It also gives you some time to think on your own, outside the comfort of your own home. Going for a walk is a simple way to help you get outside of your own head.

2. Write in a journal.

It can be very hard to express your thoughts and emotions when you’re feeling down. Instead of letting them eat away at you, though, getting them all out in a private journal is a great way to get the thoughts out of your head. When you write down the things that are stressing you out, you can look at your problems, reevaluate your emotions, and figure out what is causing you the most tension. Keeping a journal can really help you through the tough times.

3. Drink some tea.

On days when the world around you is feeling dark and cold, nothing feels better than a cup of warm tea. A fun mug, a nice tea bag in your favorite flavor, and some smooth honey can help give you some peace and calm. And if tea isn’t your thing, a warm cup of coffee may do the trick, too. There’s something about a warm drink that feels like a hug a rough day. Taking a break to drink a cup of tea or coffee is a nice relief when the going gets rough.

4. Take a nap.

Sometimes when your head is spinning, the best thing you can do is just stop. Taking a nap may sound like a bad way to relieve stress, and I don’t think it will always solve all your problems, but taking a nap is a great way to take a break. And if it’s nighttime, go to bed early. Sleep is a great stress reliever, and sometimes all you need is a quick sleep to reset your brain and recharge for the day ahead.

5. Do some yoga.

Yoga is a great way to relieve stress and to focus on yourself. There are plenty of Youtube videos for both beginners and advanced yogis! It’s a great combination of using your body, meditating, and focusing on your breath. I always feel so strong when I’m doing yoga, and that can translate into mental strength as well. It’s a great way to deal with the world when it feels like thing are going crazy, and can really center you in those times.

6. Remember to think positively.

As cliché as that sounds, thinking positively when times get rough is a very powerful thing. If you can get out of your head enough to think about the good things in your life, you can definitely get over this bump in the road. Whenever you’re having a day when you feel like everything is falling apart, take time throughout the day to take mental checks. If you are getting positive, focus on that positive thought! If you are feeling negative, take the time to think of one positive thing happening in your life right now, and keep thinking of positive things until the negative thought leaves your mind. Trying to stay positive can make a big difference in a hard day.

No matter how bad thing get, things aren’t going to stay bad forever. Talk to a friend, call a family member, paint or draw, bake; there are so many thing that you can do to make the bad days more bearable. Just remember that everyone goes through moments or phases when they feel like the world is against them. Remember that even when it seems like the world is out to get you, there is someone in that world who loves you so much. When the going gets tough, keep on going. We’ll get through it all together.
