This Is Me Surrendering My Troubles To God

By

“When fear knocks, let faith answer the door.” –Joel Osteen

I’ve been feeling ill for a month now and the physical discomfort has been crippling me. I already doubted that my costly medications are working. And it seemed to blur my future as it’s been a big nuisance to my career life as well. It has tortured me emotionally and mentally. Even the thought of succumbing to death has already tainted my mind. Tears kept gushing day and night; sometimes it would happen randomly like when I’m walking outside, when I’m having dinner with my family, when I’m taking a shower, or when I’m simply watching the TV. As long as I felt a threatening pain followed by self-pity, it would be difficult for me to hold back my tears.

So I decided to surrender this all to God.

When I say I’ve surrendered my burden to God, it means I’ve let Him in. I’ve let Him take control of what’s happening to me. I’ve involved Him in my ordeal. I learned to humble myself in prayer. I learned to peruse His Word, the Bible, to remind myself of all the promises, of all the healing and restoration that took place back then. I learned to simply lean on Him. Let me share with you one of my favorite verses:

“What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.” –Hebrews 11:1 (New Living Translation)

Basically, faith is conceived in our own thoughts. It is strongly believing that the rainbow will appear as our storms relent and finally cease. Faith doesn’t mean the absence of doubt; it means conquering the doubt. It is a discipline of the mind. A choice.

And I choose to activate my faith whenever fear lurks around.

Every time fear whispers to me that I won’t get any better, every time it convinces me that I’m just a burden to my family, every time it spells death to me, I will pause and let faith do the fight. I’ll let it rebuke every negative thing I see, I feel, I hear. I’ll declare victory over my plight.

Whatever you’re going through right now, please let faith answer it when fear knocks on the door of your life. Perhaps you’re also not feeling well, perhaps you’re having trouble with your finances, perhaps you’ve been waiting for a life partner for years, struggling with your studies, trying to have a baby, or perhaps you’re just feeling so good that you’re scared of a downfall. It may be difficult especially when the problem seems too big and it’s blocking your view of hope, but just as what the Word of God says, let faith be your confidence that everything will be okay. Assure yourself. Assure it with prayer and devotion to God. He won’t bite! In fact, He wants you to lay it all down to His feet as your offering. It pleases Him when you acknowledge your weakness. It pleases Him when say you need Him. (Because you really do!)

No one has the final say over your life situations but God.

Nope, it’s not your doctor. Not your parents. Not your neighbor. Not your husband or wife. Not your teacher or boss. No one but God has the best final say over your life. Let me repeat that adjective: the best. Yes, He wants the best for you! And surely He wants you to prosper, to be healed, to pass that test, to get that promotion, to have a wonderful family. Well? Only if you allow Him to take over everything. It starts with your heart and mind. Go to Him as a child goes to his parents, full of trust and excitement. Ask Him for faith and use it as an armor.

Now when fear knocks on your door again, don’t just ignore it and don’t answer it all by yourself either. Let your faith in God face it.

I am healing. And so will you!
