You’re Not Meant To Be Your Own Savior (That’s God’s Job)

By

Best-selling author of Beauty in the StillnessKarin Hadadan, reassures us here that nothing is impossible if we choose to share our struggles with God.

Can you trust God’s power rather than your own human effort?

Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.

Mark 10:27

This verse follows the story of the rich young ruler walking away from Jesus’s call to sell everything. Despite his wealth and rule-following, the young ruler couldn’t save himself. The disciples were shocked, realizing if even a ‘good person’ who follows all the rules can’t be saved, who possibly can?

Jesus’s response is profound yet simple—salvation isn’t something we can achieve through our own efforts. No human can meet God’s perfect standard through their own power. But what is impossible with man is possible with God—He makes salvation possible when we cannot. There are many areas in our lives that feel humanly impossible—often seen in health challenges, financial burdens, relationship dynamics, or life events that make us question how we will ever get through. But those are the precise moments where God reveals Himself to each of us—where we’re being invited to trust in His power rather than exerting more of our human effort, force, or control.

When we move away from self-reliance and hand our problems, worries, or troubles to God, we begin to rely not on ourselves but on Him. Our trust doesn’t need to be in our limited capabilities, but fully in God who can do the impossible—just like how He walked on water, multiplied the loaves and fish, or raised the dead to life. The next time we face what seems like an impossible mountain before us, we can turn to God and say with confidence, ‘With You, all things are possible. I trust that You will handle what I cannot.’
