I’ve always considered Barbie to be one of my beauty and style icons. This shouldn’t be news, considering my penchant for a good tan, bright blonde hair and a wardrobe that can take you from the White House to the ranch. Barbie rules. I used to conceive ensembles and makeup looks around Barbie, and by “used to” I mean… a few days ago. When I wanna channel the original queen of the dolls, here are a few of the ways I achieve it.

Juicy Couture original perfume

The ladies behind Juicy Couture were obviously totally inspired by Barbie when they developed their line, and they told the perfumer behind their first fragrance that they wanted something Barbie would wear. This lush white floral is totally on Barbie’s vanity, and I’m sure a few other Juicy fragrances are too. The original Juicy Couture feels a bit more mature than its siblings, with a lovely, kaleidoscopic blend of tuberose, green apple and orange flower.

MAC Candy Yum Yum lipstick

Barbie and I differ a bit in our lipstick choices. I always go red and she always goes pink. I do own MAC’s now-legendary Candy Yum-Yum, a neon pink matte shade Barbie would go crazy for.

John Frieda Go Blonder haircare

Barbie’s blonde. Her aura is blonde. She’s one of the most iconic blondes of all time! I’m sure she spares no expense maintaining it … or, I mean, she would if she were real. A California girl like Barbie probably loves John Frieda’s Go Blonder line, which naturally lightens your hair with a little help from the sun or some heat styling. It’s like a grown-up Sun-In!

Halo Couture extensions

Some of you might have given your Barbies DIY haircuts back when you were kids. I am not judging you. OK, I’m judging you a little. But we’ve seen Barbie with a few different hairdos, though long and blonde is her trademark. If Barbie got a regrettable bob, she’d supplement it with some easy-to-use extensions like the ones from Halo Couture, which come ready to use on a thin wire for easy length and thickness, no clips required. Brilliant!

Xen-Tan tanning lotions

I don’t know where Barbie stands on the sunless tanning vs. laying out issue, but I have a feeling our girl probably still likes to tan on the beach. She lives in Malibu! However, I bet she reaches for Xen-Tan in the winter; it’s the best self-tanner I’ve ever tried. Barbie always looks perfectly sunkissed, and Xen-Tan never looks too bronze or too orange.

Aloha Daily Good dried green juice packets

Barbie is a busy chick. She’s taking care of her family and pets, working a million jobs and still looks 100% great all the time. I think Aloha’s dried green juice packets are her secret. She can get all her vitamins and nutrients on the run blended up in a smoothie or mixed in her water. I think Barbie’s days of working at McDonald’s are behind her and she’s gotten aboard the health train, don’t you?

Floss Gloss nail polish

The pastel lavender/pink of Perf is the exact shade of one of my Barbies’ favorite party dresses. Enough said! (Though I think Barbie would also love turquoise Wavepool and glittery silver Dimepiece.)
