Why is it so hard to conjure the will to do ANYTHING, let alone homework? Things would be a lot easier if we were all completely stupid and couldn’t tell the different between what that is meaningless and meaningful– but we have to work with what we’re given.
A lot of wise people and grandmas say that life is a gift. This also implies that mean that death is total garbage! Also considering that there are an infinite about of gene combinations to create a human being, it is pretty insane that we are them. I mean, it’s hard to believe that we even have eyes. We are able to walk around and sit at computers and invent burger chains—that’s crazy! If we were all totally stupid we wouldn’t have been able to conceptualize the Big Mac. That means we wouldn’t have been able to PRODUCE the Big Mac either. Doing your homework will allow you to advance in society and create the Big Mac of your dreams.
Why are you avoiding your homework so much? Aren’t you curious about nature? Or culture? At all? Nothing in school can keep up with the fastness and freshness of the shit you can find on the internet, unless your professor is very extraordinary. It’s okay tho everything doesn’t have to be refreshable. Slower stuff will add context to the fast and often superficial hurricane of everyday society. Think about it- culture takes time to establish itself! By understanding the things that came before everything in the now, you can have a better sense of what is actually going on. You can cognize what influences your influencers…
A lot of people get discouraged because homework can be difficult and feel impossible. The important thing to remember is that nothing is fixed. Our brains are always changing and adapting. Plus, our brains like learning from other brains. If what you’re doing in solitude is totally frustrating then go seek out guidance. It is good to work in groups and/or take advantage of the fact that we’re a social communal species. Even babies find social learning effective!
Once you’ve obtained the skills you need to actually DO your homework, you can start DOING it by simply doing it. A lot of times you’ll come across advice about finding a nice quiet place to work without distractions. This is partially helpful, but if you consider the amount of things that could be considered distractions, it’s kind of arbitrary. For example, having a stomach might be considered a distraction. You could have a beautiful prison cell of a desk and all the homework resources in the world, but If you are not focused then you will never get anywhere. You’ll just keep thinking about your stomach, or whatever it is that you’re… doing. Focus is all about getting lost in the process. It should be fun! It’s fun being focused because the time just melts away and before you know it, you’re already done. You could be in a crowded room full of people and still manage to read a book cover to cover. People do that all the time on the subway. If you are truly focused on what you’re doing then you won’t notice anything else in the world. That’s just how it is.
If you think you might have a learning disability you should go see someone about it before you do your homework. Or if you don’t have the time, you should talk to the person who assigned you your homework and tell them what’s going on and they should be able to help you out realistically. Sometimes people are afraid to ask for things, like help, but if you just show up and be totally honest, things will usually work out for you. Unless you honestly don’t want to be there / don’t want to try. That’s another story.
If you really don’t know how to finish your homework maybe you need to get different homework. There are so many different kinds of things you can pour your energy into. You probably don’t even know all the things that you can do. Your parents and friends might say certain things, but if you go up to someone else’s parents and friends they’ll say something totally different. Maybe you can go to your academic advisor or counselor and talk about your experiences and your personality and what makes you happy and figure out where to go from there. Happiness is key in this gift!
