When I was growing up, dating older guys was the thing. Here are seven reasons why dating younger guys is the new dating older guys.

1. They think it’s awesome that you’re older than them.

I don’t know why that is, I guess it’s the same reason girls like older boys: having one’s shit together is attractive.

2. They make you feel so sexy.

As I’m getting into my late twenties, I’m starting to notice small wrinkles around my eyes and weight in areas I didn’t gain it before, and it’s so nice to feel like you’re still attractive to someone who could be with girls much younger and fitter if he wanted to.

3. Younger guys are just stoked they’re getting laid.

They don’t give a shit about the muffin top you’ve been staring at in the mirror for three days.

4. They’re not looking for anything serious.

When I was twenty-two, I wanted every guy I dated to be my boyfriend, but they were never looking for anything serious. Now that I’m a few years older and going through my own “career” phase, I’m not looking for anything serious either. Knowing we’re both just having fun without any expectations is really refreshing.

5. They can have surprising depth.

Younger guys are coming from the most educated and open-minded generation to date and the guy I’ve been seeing is really intelligent and genuinely interesting to talk to. Plus, he identifies as a feminist, which is way cool.

6. It’s nice to have the upper hand.

Not that I think any relationship should be a struggle for power or who’s the “boss,” but in my past relationships with older men, they all naturally assumed the role of “alpha.” Having a casual relationship with someone younger has allowed me the experience of dating on my own terms and feeling more in control of the situation, which has been really liberating.

7. They’re just fun to be around.

Younger guys are just loving life and having fun. It’s refreshing to spend time with someone who just wants to eat junk food and make you laugh. Even in the morning. TC mark
