I Know I Can’t Be With You But I Still Love You

Aziz Acharki

I hope you do not mind when I say that I am in love with you. I hope you do not mind when I say that I think you are absolutely breathtaking. I hope you do not mind when I say that you have the most beautiful eyes that I have ever seen. I really hope that you do not mind at all.

Your brilliance is immense and I feel that I am starting to enjoy it.

When I look at you, it is love in it’s purest form. You look completely and utterly beautiful when you smile and for a second, I forget this mess inside of me. I would like to think that I am like your favorite worn out book. Even with all its rips and imperfections, you hold it close to your heart. Even after reading a million other books that are in better condition, I hope that I am still your favorite and that you never get tired of me.

“I would never surrender my heart to you again” I said,

But I took the risk and jumped.

But yes, I know. This can not be, we can not be.

“We’re best friends, remember?”

Of course, how can I forget? But I can not control this kaleidoscope of butterflies fluttering within me. I can not control how my lips outline into a smile and how my heart murmurs, saying “he is wonderful beyond words.” I love you.

And you were okay with it. Not over the moon, not thrilled, Just – okay.

I can not force you to love me. But God knows that I do not care. You are the most hurtful truth, but I only need you, forever.

In love, all you can do is fail so badly at the first try.

The rest? You don’t mind at all.

I long for you, even in your presence because you are here, but not with me.

Don’t get me wrong, you do not have to like me back. You do not owe me your feelings. We are best friends and that is all you can offer. I want more but somehow, we have reached the end.

Call this a love story,
A tragedy,
And no matter how you view it,
The end does not change.

But, I wouldn’t have us any other way. TC mark
