Is This The New Ice Bucket Challenge?

Jimmy Kimmel posted a video calling people to donate and raise awareness for SMA by posting videos of themselves smashing stuff with the hashtag #SMAshSMA.

Yep! You read that right, just utterly destroy something.

SMA, or Spinal Muscular Atrophy, is the number one genetic killer of children, affecting 1 in 6,000 kids. The trend originated with Stephen Clark, whose granddaughter Scarlet was born with this disease.

According to curesma.org, SMA “is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe.”

You can donate to the cause at curesma.org and check out scarletssmile.com to learn more about the beautiful Scarlet and her story.

So let’s get to it! Take up the challenge, and smash something to raise awareness. Plus, you have a really good excuse to smash something to pieces, and that just sounds fun.
