Everything I Learned From This Season Of ‘The Bachelorette’

By

I have been really late to the reality TV bandwagon and finally have gotten into watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette. Regardless of whether or not you watch the show, I think that this year’s The Bachelorette has been a learning experience. Miss Hannah Brown seems like the coolest girl and someone that I would love to just hang out with. With her platform on the show, I think she is someone that we can all learn from. These are the lessons I picked up while watching her journey.

1. Don’t be afraid to ask the hard questions and have the hard conversations

Throughout the show, Hannah has made it clear to the men that she wanted nothing but authenticity from the guys. It’s been so interesting to watch Hannah ask the hard questions and expect honest answers. But she also opened herself up in hard conversations and got real with the guys too.

2. Follow your heart

I give Hannah props. I don’t know how she makes decisions every week to send guys home, but she always seems so sure of herself in the moment. It has been so great to watch someone follow their heart and really just trust her gut. Even in the face of people telling her bad things about Luke, I have to give her credit for following her heart.

3. Listen to the people around you

Despite the fact that I love that Hannah followed her heart regarding Luke, I do think that it is important to take in everything that people are saying. It has been pretty obvious to the audience that Luke is a pretty bad dude. And I am so glad the guys paint Luke in a very honest light. If I were in Hannah’s shoes, I don’t know how I would react or feel. But I learned that it’s important to listen to the people that are close to you about the important things in life, because if we’re honest, he should not have made it so far.

4. Don’t let anyone make you feel ashamed about yourself or your past

Now I’m really referencing the conversation that Hannah had with Luke. I think it is so important for a lot of women to see that there is no shame in the decisions they’ve made in the past or present. If anyone makes you feel bad for the things you’ve done, they aren’t on your side. So major props to her for defending herself and sticking to her guns, no matter how much he tried to convince her otherwise.

5. Stand up for yourself and what you want

Lastly, but I think most importantly, Hannah really put the guys in place this season and was very honest that she needed more from them to make the experience less about each other and more about her. And I think that is the coolest thing that you can do for yourself. It is not bad to advocate for yourself and to ask for what you want.

This season was truly a whirlwind of emotions, and I feel like I learned alongside Hannah in her journey to find love. Through it all, she was such a joy to watch in this journey and I am so impressed with how she handled everything that happened. I am so excited to see what happens for her next.
