You Gotta Give Yourself The Flowers You Deserve

By

You gotta give yourself the flowers you deserve. When was the last time you told yourself that you were proud of your accomplishments? Have you ever taken the time to realize how far you have come? We tend to look for outside validation, whether that be from our friends and family or the validation from strangers from social media platforms. But we hardly look in the mirror and say, “I am proud of you.” We are conditioned to downplay our achievements. We are told that we have to remain humble regardless of the situation. I am telling you now, do not let other people dictate how you celebrate yourself. Do not let anyone tell you that you are doing too much when it comes to acknowledging your accomplishments. You deserve all the celebration, and you should start celebrating yourself today.

When we celebrate ourselves, sometimes that makes people uncomfortable. Most likely, they haven’t celebrated their own accomplishments. They may think, “How could you have the audacity to celebrate your accomplishments?” Remember that it is just them projecting their insecurities on you. Just because they do not celebrate themselves does not mean that you do not and should not celebrate yourself. Be bold and loud about your victories. Do not downplay your accomplishments for anyone. This might be foreign to you; however, you deserve it. Their validations, or the lack thereof, does not negate all the things that you have been through.

You deserve to celebrate yourself. You should not wait for others to do so. Don’t get me wrong, it feels good to be celebrated by your friends and family. However, the most important person that needs to celebrate you is you. You deserve to celebrate the small victories, because only you know what it took to accomplish them. You should celebrate the large victories because you almost quit during the process. You should celebrate yourself just because. You’ve come so far, even with the obstacles you have had to face. You make it look easy, but I know it’s been hard. So celebrate yourself. Celebrate yourself unapologetically, no matter what other people may say.

You deserve the accolades. Don’t wait for others to celebrate you or acknowledge you. Your accomplishments still mean something, even without their praises. You deserve to be your biggest and loudest cheerleader. You deserve all the flowers. Look in the mirror and say, “I am proud of you.” Be the cheerleader to yourself that you know you deserve.
