That Ain’t No Way To Feed A Baby, No Way

A new poster campaign by “Mexico City health official [sic]” seeks to tout the virtues and health benefits of breast-feeding babies—but there are no babies on the posters, only topless women whose pendulous maracas are slightly obscured by a banner that reads, “No le des la espalda, dale pecho.” (I am not a Spaniard, but according to Google Translate, that means, “Do not turn your back, give chest.”)

NPR blames poverty for low rates of breast-feeding in Mexico, yet it neglects to explain how the female mammary gland costs anyone uno peso rojo.

In response to a public outcry that presumably came from everyone except heterosexual males, Mexico City has removed images of the offending posters from its website.
