Here’s Why No Matter What, You Should Smile Today

By

Every once in a while, we could all use a reason to fashion a smile across our faces. I’m here to help you do just that. No matter what is going on around you, there is always something to stop and be happy about.

Reason #1: You’re Reading This

Hello? You’re reading this post right now with your own eyes. Sounds like a good reason to smile, to me. Sometimes we get so caught up in the day to day, that we neglect to appreciate the little things – like being alive and well.

Every so often, stop and realize how fortunate you are to be a whole, healthy individual. It’s truly amazing what our bodies and minds are capable of – don’t forget to stop and be grateful.

Reason #2: There’s Beauty all Around Us

Whoever said, “Stop and smell the roses” was on to something. No matter where you are, there’s beauty all around you – don’t forget to stop and appreciate it. Get outdoors and breathe some fresh air, smell some flowers, take in the beautiful simplicity of nature. No matter the season, something outdoors should give you a reason to smile.

Reason #3: There Is Good Out There

10 minutes of watching the news leave you feeling like all hope in humanity is lost? It’s hard to see through all of the bad in the world when it’s the main focus clouding our senses. With the creation of social media came the magic of extensive information at our fingertips.

Unfortunately, the news receiving the most coverage isn’t always the kind that puts you in a fabulous mood. While it’s good to stay informed on what’s going on in the world – good and bad – the good sometimes gets buried in the pile. There is good out there, though – so much good. If you take a minute to seek it out, you’ll find it.

Reason #4: Someone Out There Loves You

It’s important to remember all of the people who love and care for you in this world. There may be times when you feel like you’re alone with no one who understands you or how you feel. The truth is, someone out there does.

Maybe we sometimes take them for granted, or don’t allocate the time to show them how much we appreciate them. Here’s a reminder to call up that friend of yours you’ve been missing, or do something special for your mom who does so much for you. After all, you need to show the people that love you, that you love them too.

Reason #5: You’re Fortunate

If at the end of the day, you tuck yourself into a nice warm bed and prepare for a restful night’s sleep, you’re pretty lucky. This routine act is unfortunately viewed as a privilege to so many.

Rather than focusing on what you don’t have, take a moment to be grateful for all that you do. Simply having a roof over your head is something to stop and smile about.

Sometimes, all it takes to be happy is contemplating all that you have to be thankful for. If you are constantly focusing on the negative aspects of life, it’ll be hard to get past them to see anything else. Perspective changes everything. Make sure to align yours with what makes you happy.
