Darling, These Are All The Things I Want To Thank You For

By

I want to say thank you. Yes, thank you, to you, who has made me learn the value of love yet again.

Thank you, most of all, for seeing me. The real me whom not so many have had the privilege of meeting. Thank you for staying despite the countless flaws. And thank you for accepting them. All of them, without asking for more than a peck on the cheek and a gentle hug.

Thank you for seeing me through the darkness that I had been casting over myself in the years before our worlds collided. You brought with you the fire that pushed away the void that has built up in my heart, burning away all of the doubts and the loneliness inside of me. You have kept the fear at bay.

Thank you for being patient with me. Thank you for holding my hand during the times that I found myself on the brink of losing it. With a radiant smile, you tamed the beast that ran wild in me. But you never made me feel I was your slave and you were my master. We were always partners, you and I.

With you, I feel like I could conquer the world. And maybe even one beyond this. You saved me from myself. I thank you for that.

And I probably have already said this a million times over the past few years, but thank you for loving me. Unconditionally.

You gave me more love than I deserve. That’s something I could not hope to repay in this lifetime.

Lastly, thank you for giving me the chance to love you. Thank you for the opportunity — you gave my words substance. You breathed life into every metaphor. Every poem became an image of how your eyes glitter under the moonlit sky and how your smile shines over the darkest corners of this world of broken hearts.

Thank you for giving me the freedom to pour out my heart. You gave life to a dream I’d forgotten I’d had. One that I had given up on.

I thank you for being the reason for everything. I thank you for you, and for the worth you have given me.

We might not be bound by the same time and space right now… But in a few months or years from today we will find ourselves in the right place and time. And our eyes will find their way into each other’s gaze. And my heart will melt into an ocean of love poems and metaphorical essays for you.

It will be so overwhelming that I will have nothing left to say with my words but thank you
