To All The Twenty-Something Girls Out There: You Will Be Fine

By

Look at you young girl – full of dreams.

I know you’re excited and scared to what the future holds. Don’t worry, dear. Even though there seems to be a long and winding road ahead of you, know that you will be okay.

You will be fine.

Life might not be perfect. There are ups and downs. There are good and bad days. But you know what? As long as you keep your head up high, you will do pretty well in overcoming whatever life throws at you.

You will be fine.

It might be taking a bit of time for you to find the courage to get out of your comfort zone. You might be choosing to stay on the safe side for a bit longer compared to others. Sometimes, you feel weak, afraid and hesitant. You probably change your mind – a lot of times. It’s okay. One day, you’ll wake up with that burning desire to finally see the world. Your soft heart might find it hard to let go and walk away now. Eventually, you will.

And you will be fine.

The experiences that you encounter now will show you that you are more than what other people think you are. Learn from them. Grow if you must. At some point, you will try to meet everyone’s expectation. But you can only do so much, dear. When you feel exhausted and unhappy, know that you can stop. You can stop complying with the norm around you and just be yourself. You are free to do what makes you happy, express what you believe in and live the life you’ve always wanted.

You will be fine.

It’s okay to be ambitious and hungry for knowledge and adventures. There’s nothing wrong if you still want to explore. Change jobs, try new hobbies and go places until you finally found what your true passion is. It’s okay to get lost along the way. It’s okay to feel tired. You’re only human. The most important thing is that you don’t give up. Search for that place where you fit in – where your heart and mind feels home. The future might seem blurry at this moment but calm down, darling. It will all make sense along the way. Believe me.

You will be fine.

People come and go in your life. You lose some and win some. The magic and curse of love is in your ability to fall in and out of it. A broken heart might hurt now but it will make you realize that the universe places people in your life for a reason. Your journey in search of love might seem bittersweet but know that the most hurtful moments are also the most transformational.

You will be fine.

One day, it will just click. You will realize what’s important and what’s not. Breathe and slow down. Take responsibility for your life because nobody is ever responsible for your situation but you.

It’s okay that you don’t know exactly what you’re doing yet. It’s okay that you feel scared but never let your fear keep you from loving unconditionally, fulfilling your dreams and discovering the world out there. Just go for it – travel, meet people, and experiment in life. Let go of the toxic people. Nourish and treasure true friendships instead.

Don’t be afraid to make silly mistakes. You will eventually become wiser, more independent and more confident. Sometimes, “not knowing” can be really frustrating. Don’t worry. The experiences that will make and break you will only make you stronger.

Be really excited. Beautiful things are about to happen to you. Take your time. One day, you will think of the days when things were such a mess that you almost feel like giving up. You will remember all the good and bad times. And you’ll smile. You’ll smile because after everything that you’ve experienced through the years, you will realize how far you’ve come. You’ll smile because you’ll feel truly proud of the person you’ve become.

Trust me.

You will be fine.
