To The Girl Who Is Constantly Getting Hurt

Not everyone is going to hurt you. Not everyone is going to bail when you need them. Not everyone is going to tell you that they love you and not mean it. I wouldn’t blame you if you disagreed with everything I just said, but please trust me.

I love you. I love you more than you’ll probably ever know. I’ve learned a lot in the past however many years of knowing you. I haven’t always been the way I’m about to share. There were definitely times where I was jealous and upset. In the end those feelings were only because I was thinking of myself.

The thing is that when you love someone, like truly actually love someone, you don’t love them for anything in return. You respect them to the ends of the fucking earth. You support them through every decision they make because you trust them, you trust them to do what they think is right. Sometimes, however, those decisions end up falling apart, but you will be there to get them through it. You realize it’s not always going to be perfect and things will get rough at times, but you don’t give up.

You don’t give up on people you love.

What I guess I’m trying to say is this: I know that you’ve had a lot of shitty people come in and out of your life, but I will always be in your corner. When you feel like you have nothing and no one to turn to, you will always have me. I have always trusted and respected you. Over all this time, that hasn’t changed nor will it ever. As much as I wish I could, I know I can’t fix your problems, but what I can do is help you through them. No matter how hard things get I won’t give up. I will never give up on you.

I know these are just words on a page and anyone can write them, but please trust me. I meant every single word I wrote. This is the kind of love you actually deserve. I know we will never be together. It would have already happened if that were the case. But I hope you find someone who thinks you are just as amazing as I do, someone that will protect you and never stop showing you how much you mean to them. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
