Lead Singer Of Garbage Shirley Manson Eviscerates Kanye In Open Letter Over Grammys Fallout

Kanye West went off a bit during the Grammys this week and Shirley Manson has had it. The above is in response to specific comments West made about the music industry, the Grammys, and Beck himself. Below is a video of West making those comments after Beck won Album of the Year for Morning Phase and a partial transcript.

“Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyonce. At this point, we’re tired of it because what happens is, you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental music. You are disrespectful to inspiration.”

For his part, Beck’s been pretty gracious about the entire affair even encouraging Kanye to go ahead and take his mic during the event. Afterwards he’s been nothing but complimentary towards West.

“You can’t please everybody. I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to what he does. How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?” Beck said.
