Sunni extremists affiliated with ISIS have blown up or demolished multiple mosques and shrines in the Northern Iraqi city of Mosul over the last few days. The above video is of the Shi’ite al-Qubba Husseiniya shrine being destroyed. Additionally, Christian Orthodox cathedrals were occupied, their crosses taken down and replaced with the ISIS flag.
“We feel very sad for the demolition of these shrines, which we inherited from our fathers and grandfathers,” 51-year-old Mosul resident Ahmed told AFP.
“They are landmarks in the city,” he said.
