Criminals Are Using ‘Pokemon Go’ To Mug People At Gunpoint

The O’Fallon Missouri Police Department recently put out a notice that the popular “Pokemon Go” game might be aiding some crooks who want to rob innocent Pokemon trainers IRL:

Many people initially wondered how the game could be involved in any sort of crime, but the Police explained that putting on a “beacon” for Pokemon attracted the criminals who waited for people to put up the beacon while in a deserted place (such as a parking lot).

Other people have speculated that criminals may hang out around “Pokemon gyms” which are designated places where players may battle for ownership of the particular gym.
