The United States is not the only country where the legalization of same-sex marriage is hanging in the balance. After Ireland’s referendum on the matter, which saw a nationwide legalization of gay marriage, leftist politicians in Australia brought up marriage equality as a matter of consideration. This appalled Australian citizens, Sarah and Nick Jensen.

“My wife and I, as a matter of conscience, refuse to recognise the government’s regulation of marriage if its definition includes the solemnisation of same sex couples,” Nick Jensen told The Sydney Morning Herald.

The Jensen’s see the legalization of gay marriage as a slippery slope toward polygamy, and they refuse to have any part of that.

“[We entered into marriage] as a fundamental order of creation, part of God’s intimate story for human history, man and woman, for the sake of children, faithful and for life. And so, if later on in the year the state does go ahead and changes the definition of marriage and changes the terms of that contract then we can no longer partake in that new definition unfortunately,” Nick Jensen said.

Essentially, if Australia’s federal Parliament legalizes same-sex marriage, Nick and Sarah Jensen will get a divorce.

Maybe they watched this YouTube video and didn’t realize it was a spoof??

This is a fairly bizarre position to take. Essentially you are telling your children is that your marriage is so insignificant you can just turn it into some wacky political statement. Though the Jensen’s somehow argue the exact opposite..

“The truth is, “marriage” is simply too important. It is a sacred institution, ordained by God. It has always been understood to be that exclusive relationship where one man and one woman become “one flesh”. Any attempt to change the definition of marriage by law is not something in which we are able to partake.

Here we stand, we can do no other, and I know we are not alone.”

I guess eventually we might find out…
