This clip was filmed in an elephant-rescue preserve in the northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai earlier this month. The woman is named Sangduen “Lek” Chailer and heads a foundation dedicated to rescuing elephants. She sings the Thai folk song “Tai Rom Malalee” to the massive pachyderm, who promptly lies down, closes its eyes, and begins snoring.
