You’re Never Going To Grow If You Keep Waiting Until Tomorrow

By

You have so much power hidden within your bones. You could wake up any morning and decide today is the day you’re going to change the course of your whole life. There’s nothing stopping you from veering into another direction, into deciding what you have been settling for isn’t enough.

Sure, there might be external factors getting in your way, but you have to ask yourself whether they are real barriers stopping you from moving forward, whether they are surmountable barriers you could overcome if you put in the work, or whether they are imaginary barriers that aren’t really standing in your way at all.

You don’t want to wait until the perfect moment to make a change — because there’s never going to be a perfect moment. There’s always going to be an excuse you can use in order to wait a little longer.

You don’t want to get into the habit of daydreaming about some magical, perfect life you’re going to have in the distant future, without actually taking any steps toward creating that future. You need to take action. You need to start taking a chance on yourself.

You don’t have to start with something big. You can move slowly, step by step, taking your sweet time — but you never want to remain stagnant. Procrastinating can tear apart your dreams. It can destroy your chance at the future you’ve always wanted.

Dreaming about how badly you want something isn’t going to get you anywhere — unless you’re also putting in the work to reach your destination.

Of course, you should go easy on yourself throughout your journey. It’s okay if you don’t reach success right away. It’s okay if the path in front of you is paved with failure. Nothing good in life comes easily. There are going to be moments of stress before moments of celebration.

Change is never easy to stomach, even if it means you could end up with everything you’ve ever wanted. Even if it means you’re walking away from an ordinary existence in search of greater meaning. There’s nothing wrong with being afraid of taking such a big step. Fear doesn’t always mean you’re making the wrong move. Sometimes it means you’re headed in the right direction. It means you’re risking everything to end up with what you want more than anything.

Remember, every single day, you’re making a million little choices. Following your routine instead of chasing after what you really want is one of those choices. It’s not mandatory to keep doing the same things today that you were doing yesterday. You don’t have to keep repeating history. It might feel like you have no choice except to go where life takes you — but you have more agency than you realize. You’re in control of where you step next. You always have a choice, even if you need to start out by making small ones.

Life isn’t easy. You’re going to struggle, whether you decide to take a risk or whether you decide to remain in place. But one thing is certain: You’re never going to grow into the person you wish you were if you keep waiting until tomorrow.
