In 2020, Wear Your Heart On Your Sleeve

In 2020, don’t be afraid of getting hurt. If it happens, it happens. You’ll heal. You’ll get through it and come out stronger. After all, it’s better to take a chance on love than to shut it out of your life completely. It’s better to be brave than to stay inside a bubble. Let this be the year you leave your comfort zone, stray from the norm, act like a daredevil.

In 2020, allow your vulnerable side to show. Stop hiding away your heart and let it loose. Let it run wild. Let it take risks for a change.

In 2020, chase after the people you’re interested in dating — for at least a little while. Let them know you’re crazy about them. Let them know you’re looking for something serious. Skip over the dating games and get straight to the point. Let them know exactly how you feel about them so there’s no miscommunication or mixed signals.

See what it’s like to date when you’re 100% yourself, flaws and all. See how much easier it is to navigate the dating world when you’re not worried about censoring every thought that enters your mind. See how much easier it is to form connections when you swear to stay authentic.

In 2020, stop worrying about what other people are going to think of you, whether they’re going to approve of you, whether they’re going to want to be your friend, whether they’re going to want to make out with you. Stop living your life, trying to impress other people, and start trying to impress the only person who matters. Yourself.

If you want something, chase after it. If you’re passionate about something, pursue it. Don’t stop to wonder what anyone else will think. Follow your heart and worry about the rest later — or don’t worry about it at all.

You don’t want to waste your year by tiptoeing around everyone else. It doesn’t matter if the truth makes them uncomfortable. If you’re upset, you’re allowed to admit it. If you’re happy, you’re allowed to admit that too. No matter how many people accuse you of being overemotional or overdramatic, your emotions are valid. You are valid.

In 2020, start making first moves. Start dreaming big without holding back. Start genuinely believing in yourself. Start telling yourself that your happily ever after is right around the corner.

You aren’t going to make the most of the year, unless you stop worrying so much about what other people think about you. You can’t keep playing it safe. You need to take risks when it comes to love. You need to follow your heart. You need to express your feelings instead of holding them back, swallowing them down, locking them away where no one else can see.

You aren’t protecting yourself by remaining in your comfort zone. You aren’t saving yourself from heartache. You’re creating heartache. Loneliness. Restlessness.

In 2020, wear your heart on your sleeve. Speak authentically. Love loudly. Make the most of your year so you aren’t left with a single regret. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
