It Sucks To Feel Like You’re Falling Behind

By

It sucks when you feel like everyone else is ahead of you. Like you’re falling behind. Like you’re the only one who is stumbling through life, unsure and afraid.

But you have to remember, no two journeys look exactly alike. You have to stop playing the comparison game. Just because other people your age seem more successful doesn’t mean you’ve been doing something wrong. It doesn’t mean you should be ashamed of yourself. It doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong path.

It sucks when you feel like you aren’t reaching your potential. Like you should’ve accomplished more by now. Like you are running out of time to reach your goals.

But you have to remember, you have no idea what is around the corner. You might be a small step away from everything you’ve ever wanted — or you might need a few more years to reach your destination. Either way, that is okay. You’re doing better than you think. You don’t have to be so hard on yourself. You don’t have to treat yourself like a punching bag.

It sucks when you feel like a disappointment. Like a failure. Like a fuckup.

But you have to remember, the way you see yourself isn’t the way the rest of the world sees you. No one else considers you a lost cause. No one else is judging you as harshly as you’ve been judging yourself. You have to give yourself a break. You have to accept you’ve been doing the best you can. You should be proud of how far you’ve come, even if you aren’t in the place you were hoping to reach by now. Stop dwelling on the things you wish you would have done differently and be proud of all the things you’ve done right.

It sucks when you feel like you’ve wasted too much time. Like you should’ve put more effort into your dreams. Like you should’ve done a better job of prepping for your future.

But you have to remember, you cannot change your past. You cannot fix your mistakes. You cannot turn back time. Since dwelling on your regrets isn’t going to make you feel any better, you have to focus on your future, and more importantly, your present. Maybe you didn’t do the right thing yesterday, but you can always do the right thing tomorrow.

It sucks when you feel like you’ve missed out on your chance at success. Like you’re never going to reach your dreams. Like there’s no hope in even trying anymore.

But you have to remember, you still have plenty of time. You don’t have to have your entire life figured out in your twenties. You can still chase after your dreams. You can still reach your intended destination. It might take a little longer than you hoped, but so what? You have a whole lifetime to achieve your goals. You should never feel like it’s too late. You have to keep going. You have to keep your faith in yourself.
