When You Lose Interest In Things You Used To Love

When You Lose Interest In Things You Used To Love

When you lose interest in things you used to love, you have trouble finding the motivation to get anything done. You end up spending most of your time sleeping, even when you aren’t really tired, because you don’t know what to do with yourself otherwise. There’s nothing you’re in the mood to watch or eat or go out and do. You can’t think of a good enough reason to get out of bed.

When you lose interest in the things you used to love, you accidentally put distance between yourself and the people you love the most. You’re not trying to push them away but you stop agreeing to hang out and stop responding to texts because you’re not crazy about the idea of being around them. It’s not that you don’t want to see them. It’s just that you don’t want to play pretend. You don’t have the energy to joke around with them and force smiles and act like everything is fine. You would rather be left alone because it’s easier.

When you lose interest in the things you used to love, you have a hard time sticking to your routine. You know you should exercise. You know you should practice your passions. You know you should be productive. But you don’t have any desire to get work done. Usually your longing to succeed inspires you to do what you have to do, but lately, you don’t really care about whether you succeed or fail. You don’t really care about anything.

When you lose interest in the things you used to love, every single day feels like a chore. It’s hard to wake up in the morning. It’s hard to make it through the work day. It’s hard to fall asleep at night. It’s hard to exist.

When you lose interest in the things you used to love there’s absolutely nothing you’re looking forward to doing tomorrow or next month or next year. You aren’t even pumped about the return of your favorite show or the holidays that are coming up soon. Nothing that usually puts you in a good mood gets you excited anymore, so every single day feels the same. It’s like you’re stuck in a rut and aren’t sure how to climb your way out.

When you lose interest in the things you used to love, you become a shell of the person you once were. You become numb. You become unrecognizable. You become completely and utterly miserable. It’s one of the worst feelings — especially since it’s hard to muster up the desire to want to change. It’s hard to summon up the effort to care.

But when you lose interest in things you used to love, there’s a point when you realize you can’t keep going on like this. You need to talk to someone. You need to get help. You need to find a therapist. You need to sort out your feelings because you don’t deserve to feel this lost. You don’t deserve to feel this off balance. You deserve to experience happiness again. You deserve to rediscover your passion for the things you used to love. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
