Your Relationship Shouldn’t Get In Your Way

By

Your relationship shouldn’t get in the way of your self-love. Your person should raise your confidence. They should make you feel like the most attractive one in any room. They should give you more and more reasons to love yourself each and every day. Your relationship isn’t supposed to make you feel insecure and unsure. It isn’t supposed to leave you lost and guessing. It’s supposed to leave you feeling beautiful, inside and out.

Your relationship shouldn’t get in the way of your dreams. You can have a stable, successful career and a stable, successful relationship. You don’t have to choose one over the other. You don’t have to make sacrifices. You can balance the two. You can follow your heart and follow your passions.

Your relationship shouldn’t get in the way of your mental health. Your person should comfort you. They should support you. They should help you through your struggles. You shouldn’t be with someone who takes a toll on your mental health, someone who brings you more drama than you can handle, someone who is toxic to love. You should be with someone who makes your days lighter, not heavier.

Your relationship shouldn’t get in the way of your growth. You shouldn’t feel stifled by your person. You shouldn’t feel stuck in place, like they’ve been holding you back. Your person should give you the encouragement to chase after what you want, to become the person you want to be. They should be your main support system. They should be your own personal cheerleader.

Your relationship shouldn’t get in the way of your friendships. You shouldn’t have to say goodbye to the people who were there for you since childhood, simply because you’re in a relationship now. Gaining a forever person doesn’t mean losing friendships. It simply means gaining one more friendship. Remember, your love shouldn’t be saved for your partner. It should be spread to your friends as well.

Your relationship shouldn’t get in the way of your plans. You shouldn’t have to give up on the things you’ve always wanted, the life you’ve always planned for yourself, because of your person. You should spend your life with someone who has the same hopes and goals as you do. Someone who shares similar plans. Someone who envisions the same type of future as you.

Your relationship shouldn’t get in the way of your independence. Your relationship shouldn’t make you feel trapped, suffocated, like you no longer have any freedom. Your relationship should make you feel safe and comfortable. It should make you feel like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be with the person you were meant to be with forever and ever.

Your relationship shouldn’t get in the way of your happiness. If your relationship has been causing more distress than comfort, something is wrong, something is missing, something should be changed. Your relationship with your forever person should enhance your happiness. It should make you excited to wake up each morning and to snuggle in bed at night. It should make you excited to see what tomorrow holds.
