Why You Keep Seeing ‘Signs’ You Should Get Back With Your Ex

Why You Keep Seeing 'Signs' You Should Get Back With Your Ex

Don’t run back to someone because the universe is offering you signs. You keep bumping into them. You keep hearing lyrics that remind you of them. You keep having dreams about them. You keep hearing their name. You keep getting reminded of them and their absence in your life.

Those ‘signs’ are bullshit. You are only seeing what you want to see. You are hearing what you want to hear. You are making interpretations that align with your own line of thinking.

You want to get back together with them so you are subconsciously searching for signs that will give you the courage to make the decision you already want to make.

You aren’t sure if giving them a second chance is the best idea so you are on the lookout for justifications. You want permission. You want encouragement. You want someone — or something — to make you feel like it’s okay to get back with this person who has not left your mind.

Even if there are signs from above guiding you in the right direction, they are not as important as the emotions coursing through your bones.

Do not get back together with your ex because you believe in destiny. Because it seems like the world is pushing you into their arms again. Because you have a feeling that you are supposed to merge paths with them and live happily ever after.

If you want to get back together with your ex, if you cannot stop thinking about them, admit it’s because you miss them. Do not act like the only reason you have been considering reuniting is because it’s what the universe seems to want from you.

Take responsibility for your thoughts and opinions. Do not pin the blame on the cosmos.

Maybe the idea of soulmates makes you feel more comfortable — but, really, the idea of free will should bring more excitement. You are in control of your future. You are in control of your happiness. You get to choose whether you are going to continue living the same life or whether you are going to make a u-turn and try again with this person you cannot shake from your thoughts.

No one is going to tell you what your best move is. Not your friends. Not your parents. Not even the universe itself. You are going to have to figure it out on your own.

Instead of letting that scare you, let it exhilarate you. You are the author of your story. You get to choose the path you believe would bring you the most happiness. You get to pick your own puzzle pieces because nobody knows what you want better than you.

So, please, do not run back to your ex because all of the signs are pointing in that direction. Only get back together because you love this person, you miss this person, you want that person back.

Admit that, as much as you want to deny the hold they have over you, you have not stopped thinking about them. And you’re hoping they feel the same. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
